These are the interpretations of various legends told since times of yore about the formation of the islands and how life here came to be. They were collected over decades, and then enlivened for publication, by Fernando Costa de Alfandega. Many of his re-tellings have become so well-known in popular culture that the difference between these adaptations and their word-of-mouth origins has nowadays become blurred and almost indistinguishable.

Kenta Kajiya
(1899-1978) A Japanese-born pacifist and Christian preacher, known in later life as a writer and broadcaster, and a "Tales of the Islands" contributor. Often best-known for the endearing short-story Grandma's Scarf (1954).
Abtal Haddad
(born 1936) A Lebanese-born writer, academic and broadcaster. He began as a "Tales of the Islands" contributor after arriving in Antama as a youth.Notable as a commentator on geopolitics, especially Middle East affairs.
